Touching down in Aotearoa for the first time this summer, we will be touring the central North Island with NASA astronaut Dr. Kate Rubins! This STEM in the Community initiative is an extension of STEMFest, to bring accessible, inspiring, family-friendly experiences to more communities across the country.

Starting with Palmerston North’s Te Manawa museum, we will be visiting Taupō Library, Rotorua Library, and culminating in an EVENING UNDER THE STARS extravaganza at Tauranga’s Waterfront. These are free, in-person engagements with the public from 8th January - 10th January 2023.

The tour dates are set as follows:

Sunday 8th January 2023 - Palmerston North, Te Manawa MuseumMonday 9th January 2023 - Taupō & Rotorua, Local Libraries in each centreTuesday 10th January 2023 - Tauranga, Tauranga Waterfront

Is there something you’ve always wanted to ask about being in space? Curious about the stories of what it’s like to be in zero gravity? Or just want to meet and get a photo with a real-life NASA astronaut? There’s something for everyone, with different activities at each visit on the tour.

Thanks to our amazing STEMFest 2022 sponsors and funders, these events are totally FREE to attend, but you will need a ticket. Click here to secure your ticket and to find out more about the event near you.
