Attendance Information
At Arataki School, our attendance plan is grounded in equity, care, and strong partnerships with our hāpori kura. While we set clear expectations and processes to support regular attendance, we fully recognise and deeply value our whānau and the diverse circumstances that shape each child’s needs.
We are committed to working alongside whānau in ways that are responsive, respectful, and flexible — adapting our approaches where needed to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed. Together, through open communication and genuine partnership, we create solutions that uphold both high expectations and compassionate support.
We believe that consistent attendance:
Provides our tamariki with the very best opportunity to thrive in their learning and academic achievement.
Strengthens friendships, builds social confidence, supports hauora, and nurtures a strong sense of belonging within class and our wider kura whānau.
Helps tamariki grow in our school values of kawenga (responsible learner), whakaute (respect), manaaki (caring), and whakahīhī (pride).
Builds strong partnerships between whānau and kura.
We drive our attendance with a motto of ‘ATK here everyday’. This supports the goal to have 80% of all of our students being present at school for 90% or more of the time.
