Tēnā koutou e te iwi,

Welcome back to Term 3. I hope you all had a restful break and got to enjoy some sunshine. We have a busy but exciting term ahead of us.

Next week we have our Learning Matters Whanau Hui on Wednesday 2 July 4-5pm. This is to share with you what Structured Literacy is all about and for you to have an understanding of how we are teaching Literacy at Arataki School. Please return the slip that was sent home last week so we have an idea of numbers for catering and it also puts you in the draw for a prize.

Principal Appointment

The Board of Trustees is well into the process of recruitment, the Principal’s Job advertisement has been posted and applicants have a couple more weeks to complete these. By the end of this term the Board will be able to inform you of the successful candidate.

Staffing

It is with much sadness that I am informing you that Rachel Allen will be leaving us before the end of Term 3. Rachel has taught at Arataki School since 2011 and in recent years held the position of Team Leader of Hikurangi. We all wish Rachel well in her next endeavours.

We also are saying farewell to Janelle Meacheam at the end of this term, Janelle is taking leave and will be returning in 2025.

Drop off and Pick Up Parking

The car parks directly in front of the school were set up to support whānau with quick drop-off and pick up each day. It would be much appreciated if whānau stick within the 10 minute time frame sign posted. We are noticing more and more traffic congestion and vehicles circling the block add to this congestion. We also have a number of additional needs children who’s whanau need to access this parking as the 2 mobility car parks are currently not enough. Your support in this would be greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to an exciting Term 2

Noho ora mai,

Shelley Craig
