Tēnā koutou e te iwi,

We have had another busy fortnight at Arataki School. Last week, we had an excellent Tuakana (Year 4-6) cross country at Arataki Beach. The weather was perfect for cross country running. We had a number of students proudly represent Arataki School at the Mount Maunganui Cluster Cross Country this week.

Our Teina (Year 0-3) Cross Country was meant to be held this afternoon, but due to the weather, we have postponed this to Monday 8th June.

Reporting to parents & Curriculum - Information Afternoon for whānau

As you are aware, the Ministry of Education has refreshed the curriculum frameworks for English and Mathematics. Our teaching team has been working very hard to unpack these new curriculum frameworks and weave them into our classroom teaching programmes.

Currently teachers are writing your child’s mid-year report. The mid-year report is going to look quite different to previous reports that you have received. The new reporting format aligns with the Ministry of Educations requirement to use the following progress descriptors to report on your child’s achievement: Emerging, Developing, Consolidating, Proficient and Exceeding.

On Wednesday 10th June at 3-4pm in the staffroom we are hosting an information session for parents to unpack the new curriculum content and what we are teaching. We will also share information about the changes to reporting to parents, and explain what your child’s report will now look like. We will provide supervision of children in Room 26 while you attend the hui.

We hosted this information session earlier in the term, and the whānau who attended found the information session incredibly valuable.

Shout Out - Thank you

Thank you to our awesome group of parents from Arataki Friends of School (PTA) who organised our fundraising sausage sizzle last week. We raised another $1,200.00 towards our playground project. Fundraising efforts this year are going towards extending our playground next to the field.

Have an amazing weekend with your whānau.

Ngā mihi nui, Vicki Hiini

NEWS AND EVENTS

Tuakana Cross Country

An amazing morning was spent running on the beach for our tuakana (year 4-6) last week . It's awesome to see everyone giving it a go and the whānau that come out to support.

And here's to our tuakana that lead the pack and  represented our kura at the clusters (more on that in the next article).

Arataki at Clusters Cross Country

We are so proud of all of our tamariki who competed at Clusters on Wednesday, 3 June.

This was our first time competing on a new track and our students absolutely smashed it. They gave it everything, supported each other, and represented Arataki with mana. We couldn't have asked for more!

A huge thank you to all of our whānau who came along to help, transport, support, and cheer on our tamariki. Days like this wouldn't be possible without you. We are so lucky to have such an awesome school community behind us we really do have the best school ;)

A special congratulations to all those that will go on to represent Arataki and the Mount Cluster at the WBOP Cross Country.
