Tēna koutou e te whānau,
Meri Kirihimete.
Wow, what an amazing year this year has been. Over the past week, we have been celebrating the achievements of our students here at Arataki School. During this time, it highlighted for me how many opportunities our students have been given, and the successes that students have experienced. Congratulations to all of our trophy and value award recipients.
A particular highlight for me was the changes that we made to leadership within the school. We have recognised that all of our Year 6 students have leadership capabilities. Our Year 6 students of 2025 have definitely demonstrated this. Thank you for your service to our school.
School Lunches 2026
Next year, we have a new lunch service provider. Our lunches will be provided by ‘Ka Pai Kai’. The change has occurred due to changes in government policy.
I would like to thank Freeport for the amazing lunches and service you have given to Arataki School providing lunches over the past five years.
Here is a short message from the team at Freeport:
A massive thank you to everyone at Arataki School! From the kids, to the teachers, school leadership and of course - the parents.
It’s been our absolute pleasure and privilege to provide your tamariki with food we love to make every day for the last five years. We have really enjoyed this journey and feel extremely lucky to have been able to do so.
Special thanks to Diane for her efforts in organising things from the school end, we have really enjoyed our working relationship.
We look forward to continuing our relationship with you all, and are committed to supporting your wonderful school into the future.
Merry Christmas, From Kylie, Carley, Stacey, Tim, Aaron and our families.
End of year reporting
On Friday, end of year school reports were shared with whānau via HERO. Your child’s end of year report showed a learning progress graph. This shows where your child is working in regards to the new curriculum that was introduced this year for English and Mathematics. Please note, that the new curriculum is a Year level curriculum where children are taught at their year level. The new curriculum has new content that is required to be taught at an earlier age than what it has in the past. This may show a change in your child’s progress to previous years.
Your child’s report also has a progress dial. The progress dial shows what your child was taught and has achieved. This is directly linked to the curriculum. Please click on the dial to give you more information about your child’s learning progress.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I look forward to seeing all of our tamariki back at kura in 2026.
Take care, Vicki Hiini - Principal
