Kia ora e te iwi,
Mānawatia a Matariki
Wow, what an amazing Matariki Breakfast we had this morning. I really enjoyed having our school community come together to have kōrero and kai. It was great to see so many tamariki enjoying having breakfast with whānau and friends. Thank you to our Arataki Friends of School who organise and sponsor our Matariki breakfast.
Thank you to our Choir and Kapa Haka students who performed this morning. I hope you enjoyed spending time in your child’s classroom and sharing in their learning that they have completed so far this term. Check out our Matariki video from this morning in the News and Events section.
Math no Problem Information Session
On Wednesday afternoon and evening we hosted two Math Curriculum workshops for whānau. The purpose of these workshops was to share the Math no Problem resources we use to teach the maths curriculum. It was a great opportunity to explain how we teach maths and to answer questions for whānau. We have received requests to repeat these workshops again in term 3 for those who were unable to attend this week which we will do, so keep an eye out for those details next term.

Board of Trustees News
In September, schools across New Zealand are holding elections for Board Members. A school board is made up of 5 elected school board members, a staff representative and the Principal. The school Board of Trustees are responsible for the governance of the school and generally meet at least once per month to discuss school governance. Next week, we will be sharing information via HERO each day about the role of a board member. I invite anyone who may be interested in joining our school board of trustees to our next board meeting on Tuesday 24th June at 6pm in the school staffroom. Nominations for board members open at the end of July. The Board election is organised by a Returning Officer. The Returning Officer managing our election is Aslyne Blakey.
School Boards are responsible for the schools strategic plan. Schools are required to update their strategic plan every 3 years. As part of reviewing and updating the strategic plan, boards are required to consult their school community. Our school board has begun to gather whānau voices via an online survey. You can access the online survey at the link below and via the noticeboard near the office with a QR code link and paper copies. We really need your feedback and would appreciate you taking the time to complete this survey.
